Managing my finances has always felt similar to dealing with my TBR pile.

Hopeless and overwhelming with a (large) splash of denial.

But last year, I started following @thebudgetmom on IG and it completely changed my mindset. Then on my doorstep months later, I was gifted her new book by @portfolio_books @penguinrandomhouse!

I like to think the universe was determined for me to get my finances in order! (My TBR pile is a another story 🫠)

I know I sound like an informercial but honestly, she has given me a new way to approach money and debt that actually makes sense to me.

MY MONEY, MY WAY is the author’s personal past debt challenges mixed with the solutions she created for herself, which she later built an entire business on.

Her methods are simple, easy to follow and just the right amount of detail to keep you on track without feeling overwhelmed.

In addition to her book, I do need to plug her IG, YouTube and website. She’s overly generous with her knowledge and has tons of free resources on her sites. Oh and you should visit her IG today as she shared some exciting news!

Is it possible to laugh while reading a story about a divorce? In the case of REALLY GOOD, ACTUALLY- the answer is YES!

REALLY GOOD, ACTUALLY is a hilarious account of one woman’s attempt to start over after her divorce.

What I loved most about this book is our main character, Maggie, who is basically a train wreck in every way as she bumbles through separation, dating and all around figuring out who she even is.

She’s messy and makes countless poor choices yet you can’t help but root for her because at the heart of it she is all of us at the end of a relationship (marriage or dating) AKA: just hot mess trying to move on but having no idea how to do that…and backsliding 900 times while trying.

The author has written for television shows including WORKIN’ MOMS and SCHITT’S CREEK- and if you are familiar with those shows it’s similar to tone (funny/sarcastic) and language (swearing/raunchy at times). Loved the shows and loved this book!

REALLY GOOD, ACTUALLY was published on January 17, 2023.

And hello, the cover? I mean it’s impossible for this not to stop you in your tracks while browsing-STUNNING!

It's a new year and some of us are thinking, what if life could be different?

This is what went through Alisha Fernandez Miranda's mind as she approached her 40th birthday. But instead of just thinking about it - she actually did it. Alisha hit the pause button on her successful career as the CEO of her own consulting firm and took the leap so many of us only dream of taking.

MY WHAT IF YEAR is Alisha's personal, adventurous and very funny, year-long journey of unpaid internships in some of the careers she had a passion for but never fully explored. Her diverse roles included working behind the scenes of two Broadway shows, assisting with the fitness program, "Voga", supporting staff at a renowned auction house, and diving into the hospitality sector at an upscale hotel in Scotland.

With the support of her husband and two children, Alisha fully immersed herself in this unique opportunity while battling not only the daily hurdles at these challenging positions but also, being forced to pivot when the Covid pandemic hits.

I LOVED this book! It 100% spoke to me and I tore through it in 2 days. It's beautifully written and you feel as if you are right next to her through each internship. Her hard work and sacrifice to make the most of her "What if year" is evident throughout and I applaud her bravery!

So, how does her story end? Does she find a new career? Go back to the job she had? You're going to have to grab a copy to find out!
